Chelsea ‘close to £35m deal for Monaco star’

Chelsea are reportedly close to completing a £35million deal to sign Tiemoue Bakayoko from Monaco.
The Telegraph reports that the defensive midfielder is expected to travel to London to put the finishing touches on a move from the Ligue 1 champions.

According to Matt Law, Bakayoko was identified some months ago by Antonio Conte as a priority target and despite protracted negotiations over a fee and personal terms, it appears that agreements have been reached.
Chelsea’s interest in Bakayoko is said to have prompted discussions between the Blues and Monaco over a move for Michy Batshuayi, with the striker said to prefer a move, either on loan or permanently, to Ligue 1 rather than Everton.
Conte is also targeting a move to bring Romelu Lukaku back to Stamford Bridge, with the Belgium striker equally keen to return to the Blues. A wide player and a back-up keeper are also in Chelsea’s sights, with Juventus’s Alex Sandro and Leicester’s Riyad Mahrez said to be under consideration.
